Pocono Record, Ottaway up for sale
Saturday, August 11th, 2007My former employer, Ottaway Newspapers, is up for sale. Ottaway is part of Dow Jones and Rupert Murdoch said last week that he intends to sell the chain of community newspapers quickly after the deal closes with Dow Jones in the next quarter.
I hope whomever buys Ottaway takes a good look at what the company is doing and has done with its Internet operations. All of the newspapers are finally on the same publishing platform (SAXoTECH Online) and the developers at Campbell Hall have built in cool functionality that extends the legacy code developed by SAXO.
Gannett would make sense since they also use SAXoTECH and could incorporate what Ottaway has done into their own sites and vice versa.
